Two ‘gunmen’ shot dead by T&T cops

(Trinidad Express) Two criminal suspects were shot and killed by police in Caroni yesterday.

Central Division officers responded to a report of a robbery at NYC Bar in Cunupia at around midday.

Police said three men robbed the owner of a quantity of cash. The gunmen escaped in a Nissan B-13 car which matched the description of a vehicle stolen in the Couva district on June 17.

Police said the getaway vehicle was spotted and was chased. The officers intercepted the car in the Caroni district. Police said the occupants of the vehicle opened fire on the officers who responded.

The men attempted to flee the vehicle, but two were shot. The third man escaped.

Police said the men were taken to the Chaguanas Health Facility but were pronounced dead on arrival.

The dead men remained unidentified up to last evening.

Investigators said a manhunt was launched for the third suspect.
