The Government of India has contributed US$1M in support of various reconstruction projects in Antigua and Barbuda following Hurricane Irma.
According to a press release from the High Commission of India in Georgetown, the sum was committed through the United Nations Office for South – South Cooperation, UNDP, which manages the India – UN Development Partnership Fund, to initiate the conversation with the relevant authorities of Antigua and Barbuda for an appropriate project identified by it.
The funds for this also have already been released so that the project could start as soon as the Government of Antigua identifies it, following consultation with the concerned UN authorities, the release stated.
Additionally, the release said that India has contributed a sum of US$100,000 as a part of assistance for relief and rebuilding in the aftermath of the disaster caused to Antigua and Barbuda as a consequence of hurricanes in September 2017.
