Gold miner remanded on ganja trafficking charge

A gold miner, who was allegedly found with 70 grammes of marijuana, was yesterday remanded to prison on a drug trafficking charge.

The Georgetown courtroom of Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan heard that on January 6, at Black Water Landing, North West District, Clive Fields, 50, of Lot 248 One Mile Wismar Linden, had in his possession 70 grammes of cannabis for trafficking.

Fields, who was not represented by an attorney, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Police Prosecutor Deniro Jones did not provide any details.

Chief Magistrate McLennan remanded Fields to prison and the case was adjourned until January 17, when it will be called again at the Mahdia Magistrate’s Court.
