Motorcyclist still critical after fatal D’ Edward Village crash

Motorcyclist Leon Norton, 21, is still in critical condition after the Easter Monday accident at D’Edward Village, Berbice, which left his passenger dead.

According to a source at the Georgetown Public Hospital and Commander of ‘B’ Division Ian Amsterdam, Norton, 21, of Bath Settlement, is still in a critical condition but has been responding to treatment.

Norton is currently in the intensive care unit at the Georgetown Public Hospital.

Norton and his friend Dave Kumar Williams, 16, also of Bath Settlement, were riding a motorbike, CF 9832, when the former lost control at a turn and slammed into a utility pole along D’Edward Road.

According to an eyewitness, a police vehicle was patrolling on the road at the same time and immediately rushed to the scene after he had called out to them. He noted that an ambulance was also passing at the same time and picked up the injured youths and took them to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital. The man said that Williams was bleeding from his nose and mouth.
