Two held after Lodge car chase

A car chase just after 8 last night in the Lodge area ended with police detaining one suspect, and later arresting another.

Commander of  A Division Marlon Chapman related to this newspaper last night that ranks were acting on information when they pursued the car on D’Urban Street to the junction of Victor Street, Lodge, where the chase ended.

A taxi driver stationed on Victor Street related that bystanders told him that police had subsequently searched the vehicle but found nothing.

While residents reported hearing what sounded like gunshots being fired, with one Victor Street resident stating specifically that he heard two shots, Chapman said that no shots were fired during the police operation.

The commander related that after the  driver’s detention, another man was subsequently arrested in relation to the same matter. He would not, however, shed light on the nature of the men’s arrests.
