First Lady, Sandra Granger on Monday commended 38 women enrolled in the Early Childhood Development Workshop for using the opportunity to learn skills that will help them to become better mothers and caregivers to young children.
A release from the Ministry of the Presidency said that the First Lady made the remarks in her opening address at the workshop, which is being held at the Guyana Nurses Association at Alexander and Charlotte streets, Georgetown.
The workshop, which is the first of its kind facilitated by the Office of the First Lady in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Protection, aims to provide women with the basic information and skills in early childhood development and nurturing care practices.
“I applaud your courage in coming [for the training] and in recognising that even though you might have been in the profession, that there’s always something new to learn. I would hope that on completion of the workshop that you will go back to your respective communities better equipped, more confident and ready to care for our children,” the First Lady said.
