Grove man sentenced to five years for gun, cannabis possession

A young man was yesterday sentenced to a total of five years in jail, after he pleaded guilty to firearm and narcotics possession charges.

It is alleged that Keon Samuel, of 194 B Grove Squatting Area, had in his possession a .32 Taurus pistol, on June 26, at Yarrowkabra, Soesdyke-Linden Highway.

A second charge alleged that on the very date, the defendant had 7 grammes of cannabis in his possession for trafficking.

Subsequent to the charges being read to the defendant, Magistrate Sunil Scarce sentenced him to three years for the cannabis, and a fine of $30,000, and two years for the firearm offence, along with a fine of $50,000.
