ZARA Group, Police Force launch UG scholarships programme

The ZARA Group of Companies and the Guyana Police Force (GPF) have launched a scholarship programme for four prospective full-time University of Guyana students.

According to a joint press release, two of the scholarships, which will cover one hundred percent of the tuition fee at the University of Guyana for four years, will be available to the public and the remaining two will be offered to the immediate family members of ranks of the Guyana Police Force.

The release said the students would be required to maintain a Grade Point Average of at least 3.0. If two or more candidates are eligible, the shortlisted candidates will be selected via a random draw, it added.

According to the release, applicants must have recently completed the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) 2017 Examination, with a minimum of 8 subjects. (Applicants can apply now and email their results after.)

They must demonstrate the need for financial assistance in the form of a letter stating their parents’ income. They must present a Proof of Acceptance letter from the University of Guyana for a full time Bachelor’s Degree Programme; proof, in the form of a letter, of having completed at least 100 hours of community service; and a letter addressed to the Guyana Police Force-ZARA Scholarship Committee about future goals and plans to achieve them.
