The cyclist who was struck down by a taxi on the Grove Public Road on Wednesday has been identified as George Klass, 64, of Samatta Point, Grove, East Bank Demerara.
Police said Klass was positively identified by his wife yesterday around noon.
A car reportedly slammed Klass as he was waiting to cross the road. The accident occurred sometime around 5pm.
As a result, of the impact, he was pitched off his bicycle and was flung some distance away.
He sustained mainly head injuries and died while being transported to a hospital.
The driver of the car, which carried licence plate HC 3809, was taken into police custody.
