Acid attack victim remains hospitalised in serious condition

Kellon King, the man who was the victim of an acid attack that was allegedly carried out by his ex-girlfriend, remains hospitalised in a serious condition.

The attack on King, who is now a patient of the Georgetown Public Hospital, has resulted in the disfiguration of his face and both his hands.

Up to Friday, King’s face was still swollen and he was unable to see clearly from his right eye. He was also unable to extend his right arm. His skin was discoloured, while parts of his face were peeling.

Family members were not certain if King was due to undergo surgery but they were hoping that he has a speedy recovery.

Last Wednesday, security officer Lisa Fraser, of 241 West Ruimveldt, Georgetown, was charged with the attempted murder of King.

A city court heard that she committed the offence on September 2, at Ruimveldt, where she and King had previously lived together. Fraser allegedly went to the house and saw another woman in the apartment, leading her to confront King and slapping him.

It is alleged that Fraser subsequently retrieved a bottle containing acid that had been bought while she and King were together, poured the substance into a cup and doused the man, resulting in injuries to his head, face and both hands.

Fraser’s attorney, however, claimed that his client acted in self defence. He said it was King who attempted to douse his client with the acid but most of the contents fell on him, while she suffered minor burns to a small portion of her face.

Fraser was released on $150,000 bail but was ordered not to go within 50 feet of King or to make contact with him. She was also ordered not to make contact with, or, cause anyone to contact any witness.
