Biker dies after accident near Tucville bridge

A father of one is now dead and his friend in a critical condition at the Woodlands Hospital after they were involved in a motorcycle accident yesterday afternoon.

Stabroek News understands that the accident occurred at Aubrey Barker Road, South Ruimveldt, about 1.50 pm  yesterday resulting in the death of Sunil Samaroo, 23 years, of Kaneville, Grove, East Bank Demerara.

Meanwhile, 24 year old Keitze Bazilo, of 33 Howes Street, Charlestown, who was the pillion rider at the time, remains a patient of the Intensive Care Unit at the Woodlands Hospital.

According to a police press statement, Samaroo, who was reportedly riding an unregistered motorcycle along with Bazilo as a pillion rider, was said to have been racing with two other motorcycles, east along the said road.

Reports are that Samaroo lost control of the motorcycle while in vicinity of the Tucville Bridge, causing him and Bazilo to fall off the cycle and sustain severe injuries.

Both men were taken to the Woodlands Hospital in an unconscious state. Samaroo was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital while Bazilo was admitted in the ICU in a critical condition.

Samaroo, who is the nephew of Chief Constabulary Officer Andrew Foo, leaves to mourn his parents, siblings and four-year-old daughter.
