Boat operator remanded on drug trafficking charge

A speedboat operator was on Tuesday remanded to prison by a city court on a drug trafficking charge.

It was alleged that on September 15, 2017, Dion Vanderhyden, 37, was arrested by police with 868 grammes of cannabis in his possession for the purpose of trafficking.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge.

According to prosecutor Arvin Moore, the analysis report for this case is still outstanding

As a result, Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan placed Vanderhyden on remand and adjourned the matter until October 12, when it will be called at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court.
