Contracts worth nearly $2b awarded for Public Infrastructure projects

As 2017 draws to a close the Ministry of Public Infrastructure has awarded nearly two billion in contracts.

Of the 32 contracts whose awards were noted by Cabinet at its Sub-Committee meeting on Wednesday, 13 were granted by MoPI.

The largest of these was awarded for the rehabilitation of hinterland roads.  A and S General Construction has won a contract in the sum of $318,215,550 for the construction of roads from Matthews Ridge to Baramita, Barima-Waini (Region One). Romel Jagroop General Construction has been awarded a $310,151,000 contract for Bartica-Potaro Road (52 to 72 Miles) in Cuyuni-Mazaruni, (Region Seven) while J.R. Ranch Incorporated won a $302,762,865 contract for Bartica-Potaro Road (33-52 Miles), Cuyuni-Mazaruni (Region Seven).

Damen Shipyard, Gorinchem of Holland has been awarded $256,250,000 for the procurement  of a Pilot Launch for the Maritime Administration Depart-ment  (MARAD)

Toolsie Persaud Quarries Incorporated has been awarded $108,883,000 for the construction of rip rap sea defences at De Willem, West Coast Demerara while BK International Incorporated has won $101,332,800 for the construction of rip rap sea defences at Windsor Forest, West Coast Demerara both in Region Three.

Colin Talbot Construction Services will for $20,293,811 rehabilitate  the Kopinang Airstrip in Region  Eight while International Imports and Supplies will spend $33,372,999 building the road from Central Kaituma Wharf to Old Road junction, Port Kaituma in Barima-Waini (Region One).

Chung’s Global Enterprise has won a contract of $32,583.800 for the maintenance of roads in the Bartica Township, Cuyuni-Mazaruni (Region Seven) Lots 1&2 while B and J Civil Works has been awarded two contracts. One contract is worth $17,978,923 for the construction of community roads and drains at Bartica and Mahdia and the other $37,530,578 for the construction of community roads at Mahdia-Campbelltown to Mahdia Primary School, Potaro-Siparuni (Region Eight)

Additionally JR Ranch Incorporated has won $37,530,578 for the construction of community roads at Mahdia- Cenotaph to Dormitory Road, Potaro-Siparuni (Region Eight) and Vivekananda Dalip Enterprise $35,070,786 for the rehabilitation of sluice at the outlet of the Cunha Canal, Land of Canaan, East Bank Demerara.
