Problem with CID fingerprints database not printer delaying issuing of police clearances

Dear Editor,

Two days ago, in a letter of January 10, I wrote complaining of discrimination and victimisation against me by a section of the CID, in the issuing of police clearances. Since then Mr Desmond Trotman in Georgetown has carried out further enquiries on my behalf to a very senior official at the Ministry of Home Affairs, who was able to disclose that there is “a problem accessing the fingerprints database.”  It now seems that this, in fact, is what is disrupting the issuing of police clearances for Guyanese abroad and that I am part of a number of persons affected.  Mr Trotman has been assured that “as soon as the system is again up and running” my application will be processed.

Yours faithfully,

Donald Rodney
