It was noticeable that the AFC arm of the coalition government, whose representative sits on the city council in the form of the Deputy Mayor, who has been vocal on the parking meters and the manner in which this project was rolled out, was not at the meeting between government and city officials recently. What are we to make of this?
Recently the AFC called for the meters to be parked, pending a review of the charges and other contentious issues. The late intervention by the government and the AFC’s call must be seen as a direct outcome of the Movement Against Parking Meters’ protest action.
So, what’s next?… a movement against the burdensome taxes?
