Why couldn’t the suspension have happened months ago?

Dear Editor,

The comments by the Mayor of the Georgetown municipality at the marathon statutory councillors’ meeting in relation to the parking meters bylaws’ suspension, was an attempt at making peace and finding favour. This was after some of her councillors around the horseshoe table took a stance in defiance of the government’s request to suspend this project, thereby forcing the Minister to act.

It is a little too late for the Mayor. She really did not have a choice. Further, whether she agrees or not is of no consequence. It is a done deal; the parking meter bylaws have been suspended.

One cannot help but wonder though, why couldn’t this position have been taken months ago?

Yours faithfully,

Shamshun Mohamed
