Clean-up exercise in Albouystown, central Georgetown for Sunday

Dear Editor,

I was around in the days when Forbes Burnham was Mayor of Georgetown, and the activities undertaken in those days have now become a reality again. I am not saying the City Hall or all the councillors are responsible for this exercise, but those councillors within the City of Georgetown who have embarked on a general campaign to clean up, and I would highlight two areas that are near completion.

Firstly the Albouystown area under Mr Malcolm Ferreira, and secondly the section from Camp to Water Street and from Quamina to D’Urban Streets will be embarked on, on Sunday 30th July by Councillor Ron Persaud and others. These councillors are independent of any political parties, and their efforts should be complimented by all Guyanese. I know with the help of the citizens we will have a clean and green area.

The citizens are many, and Ron Persaud and party are few, but those who will profit from this exercise will be thousands of Guyanese.

Yours faithfully,

Mortland ‘Slugger’ Williams
