Dear Editor,
Recent events in the country have left many aghast. However, for many of us, our faith is our greatest strength.
This is a sad and humbling moment. It has highlighted in a way, how complex and complicated our issues are as a people. However, on the spiritual side there is a song that says ’God’s grace abounds in deepest waters’ (these waters are very deep); and on the secular side, usually when situations get this deep and troubling, an environment is created for real change, profound change but it would require a highly skilled process and expertise to manage the current environment and navigate a path out of here.
We need to re-mobilize the country. We need to wipe this Guyana slate clean and start over, there is so much between 1966 and 2017; can we try Guyana again? Can we try One People, One Nation and One Destiny again? We need to start over from somewhere, the big question is where?
May God grant us the wisdom, knowledge, understanding, patience, resolve, fortitude, love and grace to start over.
