Dear Editor,
Can someone point out to me the specific initiatives in the APNU+AFC government’s 2018 Budget intended to stop the downward economic slide, create wealth and jobs and improve the well-being of our people? Specifically, what programmes and projects, if any, are there in Budget 2018 that are focused on reducing unemployment, especially among our young people? What incentives are there to attract private sector and foreign investments that are so badly needed to create and expand opportunities for the Guyanese people, as distinct from rewarding comrades only? Or are we dependent on oil only? The journey to the good life has not been properly mapped. The route appears uncertain and hazardous. Disturb-ingly, hopelessness, despair and uncertainty are obviously evident among the Captain and crew.
