Guyana was set to host a major petroleum summit, November 22-24, 2017 or the inaugural GIPEX 2017.
I do not recall seeing or hearing anything about this summit and exhibition which was scheduled to be held at the Marriott Hotel. Can you share some enlightenment as to whether this summit did indeed take place and what came out of the deliberations?
I know there is to be GIPEX 2018 scheduled for February 7-9, which is slated to be bigger than GIPEX 2017.
Dear Editor, While I too share the same anxieties as many compatriots over whether government’s share of the revenues from the 2016 petroleum agreement will be the bonanza to finally launch the country into the economic stratosphere, the fact of the matter is we live in a world with established rules and expectations on how international business is conducted and how investment decisions are made by big corporations.
Dear Editor, It is totally unacceptable that insurance companies are now forcing prospective customers to declare their political affiliation on a Customer Verification Form, because this is a flagrant violation of every citizen’s right to freedom of association as enshrined in the founding charter of the United Nations (UN).
Dear Editor, One Georgetown City Councillor recently wrote in the newspapers that the (elected) council was no longer in charge at City Hall and that Town Clerk Royston King was in full command.
