Santos, Ann’s Grove match expected to steal the show

Limacol football…

Action in the Petra Organization/Limacol football tournament will  continue tonight at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground with Western Tigers tackling New Amsterdam (NA) United and Santos engaging Ann’s Grove.

Although both contests are predicted to be high-scoring affairs, the feature contest at 20:30hrs between Santos and Ann’s Grove is expected to steal the show.

Santos enter the matchup on the back of a 3-1 win in their previous fixture.

Job Caesar, Keith Caines, Orin Yarde, Ryan October and Orlando Ricketts can prove a dangerous attacking threat for the youthful outfit while  Vassel Cantzelaar, Jermin Fraser and Samuel Hunte are expected to thwart their opponent’s attack.

Ann’s Grove will fancy their chances of walking away with a positive result despite suffering a penalty kick defeat in their previous fixture.

Ryan Seales, Maxton Adams, Navado Denny, Oswald Duke, Nickose Denny will be the main threat for the East Coast of Demerara unit while Quincy Barry, Quincy Johnson, Anil Hernandez and Kevon Barry will provide the defensive stability.

Meanwhile, Western Tigers will lock horns with the rebuilding NA United side from 18:30hrs. For many pundits, Western Tigers are the tournament favourite and enter the contest in top form with their previous competitive engagement ending in a 9-0 result.

Offensively, the West Ruimveldt giant possess a formidable strike force highlighted by Randolph Wagner, Dwayne McLennon, Joshua Britton, Daren Benjamin, Jamal Pedro and Rensford Coleridge.

On the defensive end, the Tigers are equally impressive led by the veteran trio of Cleon Forrester, Ryan Adolph and Phillip Rowley.

The Berbicians suffered a 2-4 loss in their previous engagement.

From the attacking perspective, much will be expected from siblings Leonardo and Adrian Adams alongside Jamal Butts if they are to pose a challenge. Defensively, custodian Jovano Dos Santos will be the central figure in an experienced backline.

The following day the event will move to the National Track and Field Facility in Leonora, with Uitvlugt battling Eagles United from 18:30hrs and Pouderoyen facing off with Den Amstel at 20:30hrs.

The final matches of round one on January 28th will pit Milerock against Northern Rangers and Winners Connection against Grove Hi-Tech at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground, Bourda.
