Slingerz, Alpha United lose top playersas transfer window ends

Stag Beer Elite League heavyweight Fruta Conquerors have made the biggest splash in the concluded January transfer window on Monday, signing an astonishing 14 players of the official 82 transfers in the period.

The Tucville-based club, which currently sits second in the standings, re-acquired the services of several of their players including  international transfers Pernell Schultz and Kareem Knights from Trinidad and Tobago unit Caledonia AIA on loan while Anthony Abrams, Dennis Edwards, Joshua Browne, Raphael Edwards, Adrian Adonis, Jahall Greaves, Travis Martin and Ryan Hackett are the local stars to return.

Vurlon Mills

The veteran duo of Solomon Austin and Konata Manning as well as Marriheo Eastman and Shomol Smith are the newcomers to the squad.

Following CONCACAF’s decision to bar Slingerz FC and Alpha United from participating in the CFU Club Championship, several high profile players from both teams have departed for greener pastures in search of football.

Both clubs have suffered heavy losses, with Alpha United losing 22 players and Slingerz letting go of 14 individuals. On the other hand, Elite League drop-outs Pele and Georgetown Football Club (GFC) have lost 11 and eight players each.

Among the other Elite League participants, Victoria Kings have acquired eight players while the Linden unit Topp XX, the Guyana Defence Forde (GDF) and Buxton United have secured seven, six and three players respectively. Berbice unit Monedderlust acquired no players in the window.

Andre Murray Jr.,

Alden Lawrence, Rayon Morrison, Inceford Charles, Andrew Williams, Pierre Joseph, Nikosie Denny, Sherwin Skeete and Tichard Joseph will represent Victoria Kings while Rockael Reddy, Travis Henry, Kevin Dundas, Leo-orion Lovell, Jumal Bristol and Ryan Roberts are the additions to GDF.

For the Lindeners, Tevin Crawford, Trenton Lashley, Selwyn Isaacs, Kevin Beaton, Deon Charter, Norvel Adrian and Curt Murphy are acquisitions while Mervin Hardy, William Europe and Keron Solomon are the new recruits of the Buxtonians.

In terms of the other international transfers, Vurlon Mills has moved to Trinidad and Tobago club San Juan Jabloteh and Domini Garnett of Caledonia AIA has moved to Grove Hi-Tech.

Devon Millington

With regards to the teams outside the Elite League, Western Tigers of the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) made the biggest impact by securing nine players. They are Devon Millington, Andrew Murray Jr., Stellon David, Devon Charles, Jumane Somerset, Linden Pickett, Hubert Pedro, Colin Nelson and Leroy Pedro.

Continuing in the same association, Northern Rangers secured six signings in Kwame Holder, Donald McKenzie, Jamaal Williams Quincy Madramootoo and Leon Grumble while Eagles FC of the Upper Demerara Football Association (UDFA) has collected six players. They are Romain Adams, Clive Nobrega, Julian Smith, Kurt Johnson, Delon Adams and David Sanchara.

In the West Demerara Football Association (WDFA), Den Amstel secured the most players with five signings illustrated by Roundel Hutson, Kester Jacobs, Gideon Payne, Paul Payne and Delon Lanferman.
