Inaugural “Stag Bowl” Inter-Ward tournament promises to be the highlight of Linden Town week festivities

Lindeners will have the opportunity to witness the inaugural staging of the Linden “Stag Bowl” Futbol Inter-Ward tournament which will feature the top eight teams from the mining town.

According to former national table tennis player and football coach Marlon Washington, the tournament is set to commence April 15th and conclude April 26 with the grand finale.

The tournament is being organized by ‘CBR’ Hotshot Entertainment and promises to be the highlight of the Linden Town week festivities. Ansa McAl, under the Stag brand, are the sponsors of the tournament and the organisers say they expect a few others to come onboard in the upcoming weeks.

A number of cash incentive prizes are expected to be given away at the conclusion of the event with the winning team projected to walk away with a trophy and 1.2 million, two hundred thousand of which is expected to go towards a community development initiative.

The runners up will receive five hundred thousand dollars and medals, third place, three hundred thousand and fourth place, one hundred and fifty thousand dollars. Other prizes are expected to be handed to the best defender, highest goal scorer, among others.  Washington indicated that all of the games will be played at the Mackenzie Sports Club ground where Central Mackenzie, Amelia’s Ward, Blue Berry Hill, Christiansburg and four other teams will clash for top honors and the prizes that are up for grabs.

According to Washington, two other members of ‘CBR’ Hotspot organizing committee former National footballer Clive Nobrega and overseas-based Rickland ‘Tallo’ Hutson have indicated that the intention is to make the event an annual fixture and feature of the Linden Town Week activities.
