Queen’s College schools St George’s 4-0 in Milo football

Queen’s College dismantled former champions St. George’s 4-0 when the 5th annual Milo U18 Secondary Schools Football Championship continued yesterday at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.

The Camp Road unit took the lead in a fortuitous manner when St George’s conceded an own goal in the 22nd minute as an attempted headed clearance following a right side corner-kick was directed into the back of the net.

Jonathan Connelly made it 2-0 in the 45th minute, cutting across the right of the penalty box before blasting his effort into the back of the net. The score ballooned once more as Kevin Wills netted two minutes onward, rifling a thunderous free kick into the lower left corner from the top of the box.

The result was then sealed in the 63rd minute, with Wills registering his second of the day through a finish into the right side. Meanwhile, Mae’s Secondary edged Tutorial High 5-3.

Yeudistir Persaud bagged a brace in the 23rd and 48th minute while Akeem Hutson, Darshan Persaud and Diego Britton scored in the seventh, 11th and 65th minute respectively.

For Tutorial High, Steve Stanton, Monty Tyrell and Travis Hercules scored in the 26th, 48th and 56th minute respectively. In other results, Dolphin Secondary downed Central High 2-0 with  Beres Parkinson and Levi Vancooten scoring in the fourth and 31st minute respectively. Also, North Georgetown and School of the Nations battled to a 0-0 draw.

The championships, which concludes April 23rd, features 32 teams competing in a round robin format of eight group of four teams. Upon the conclusion of the group stage, the top two finishers in each group will advance to the elimination round.

The winning team  will receive $500,000 towards a school project and the championship trophy while the second, third and fourth placed sides will pocket $300,000,$200,000 and $100,000 respectively towards a school initiative and a trophy.
