(The Sports Xchange) – Russell Westbrook tied Oscar Robertson’s record for most triple-doubles in a season with his 41st in the Oklahoma City Thunder’s 110-79 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday.
Westbrook equaled the standard set by Robertson in the 1961-62 season by totaling 12 points, 13 rebounds and 13 assists.
Warriors 121, Timberwolves 107
Klay Thompson scored 41 points as Golden State lowered its magic number for clinching the best regular-season record in the NBA to two with a victory over Minnesota.
Thompson had 14 of his 41 points in the second quarter and teamed with backcourt mate Stephen Curry for 23 more in the third as the Warriors, who trailed 37-35 in the second minute of the second period, gradually pulled away. Curry scored 19 points.
Cavaliers 122, Magic 102
LeBron James continued his career year for triple-doubles and helped put Cleveland back in first place in the Eastern Conference with a victory over Orlando.
Cleveland is tied for first with the Celtics as the teams meet Wednesday in Boston. James registered 18 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists in 37 minutes for his 12th triple-double this season. He also had a triple-double (with 41 points) Sunday.
Spurs 95, Grizzlies 89 (overtime)
Kawhi Leonard scored 32 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and took charge of the game at the free-throw line in the final seconds to help lift San Antonio.
The Spurs reached 60 wins for the second straight season and seventh time in franchise history. It is third best all time in the NBA history, behind Boston (13) and the Los Angeles/Minneapolis Lakers (11).
Nuggets 134, Pelicans 131
Danilo Gallinari led seven Denver players in double figures with 28 points, and the Nuggets took advantage of two Jrue Holiday turnovers in the final 15 seconds to defeat New Orleans.
The Nuggets moved within a half-game of Portland for the eighth playoff spot in the Western Conference. The defeat eliminated the Pelicans from playoff contention.
Jazz 106, Trail Blazers 87
Gordon Hayward scored 30 points while Rudy Gobert added 20 points and 11 rebounds to lead Utah.
Joe Johnson added 13 points and Shelvin Mack chipped in 12 off the bench for the Jazz, who earned their seventh consecutive home victory.
Wizards 118, Hornets 111
John Wall had 23 points, 13 assists and six steals as Washington snapped a three-game losing streak.
Bradley Beal scored 19 points for the Wizards, who avoided their first four-game losing streak of the season and moved into a tie with Toronto for third place in the Eastern Conference. Jason Smith scored 17 points and sank a career-high five three-pointers.
Pacers 108, Raptors 90
Paul George had 35 points and 10 rebounds as Indiana erased a 19-point deficit to snap a four-game losing streak.
The Pacers improved to 7-25 in games in which they trailed by at least 15 points. Jeff Teague added 20 points for Indiana, which moved one half-game ahead of Miami for eighth place in the Eastern Conference.
Knicks 100, Bulls 91
Carmelo Anthony scored 23 points as New York snapped Chicago’s four-game winning streak. The Bulls wasted an opportunity to stabilize their position in the Eastern Conference playoff picture, leaving themselves one-half game ahead of ninth-place Miami. Chicago, though, plays its final four games against non-playoff teams.
Nets 141, 76ers 118
Brook Lopez and Jeremy Lin scored 16 points each as fast-starting Brooklyn routed Philadelphia to extend its season-best winning streak to three games.
Archie Goodwin and K.J. McDaniels notched 14 apiece and Brooklyn, the NBA’s worst team at 19-59, established a floor record for points. The Nets shot 64 percent from the floor and 51.6 percent from three-point range — both season highs.
Kings 98, Mavericks 87
Ben McLemore scored 22 points and Buddy Hield added 16 as Sacramento beat Dallas.
Langston Galloway scored 15 points, and Willie Cauley-Stein contributed 12 points and 16 rebounds as the short-handed Kings won for the fourth time in six games. Sacramento rested Darren Collison and Ty Lawson and played with eight men.
