Green Machine lose to Spain, Papua New Guinea

Guyana lost to Spain 47-5 and Papua New Guinea 31-5 in their first two games yesterday when the three-day Cathay Pacific /HSBC Hong Kong Sevens tournament kicked off in front of 120,000 rugby-crazed spectators.

Patrick King and Avery Corbin were the local scorers who registered tries against their opponents in the losing efforts.

With the hope of learning from their experiences, the team dubbed ‘Green Machine’ will look to make a comeback in the next match slated for today against their other Group G foe, Uruguay at 21:00hr (9:00pm) Guyana time.

Patrick King tries to evade the Spain defense during their Cathay Pacific /HSBC Hong Kong Sevens qualifier matchup yesterday. Spain defeated Guyana 47-5. The speedy winger, King, was Guyana’s lone scorer.
