Buxton United, Victoria Kings match takes centre stage

The East Coast of Demerara derby will take centre stage tonight when Buxton United battles fierce rival Victoria Kings in the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Stag Beer Elite League at the Buxton Community Ground. Entering the contest at 18:00hrs on a negative note following a hard-fought 1-2 defeat to league leader Guyana Defence Force, the home side and fourth placed Buxton, will be desperate for revenge against their opponents after losing the previous meeting 2-1.

Third placed Victoria Kings are in a similar situation after going down 1-5 to Fruta Conquerors in their most recent outing. A win would cement their current position in the standings heading into the homestretch of the event.

In another fixture at 20:30hrs, second placed Fruta Conquerors will engage cellar occupant Monedderlust FC of Berbice. The Tucville-based unit sits on 16 points and requires a victory if they are to maintain their pursuit of GDF.

For Monedderlust, a positive result is needed to avoid relegation.

Meanwhile, in the most recent fixtures, GDF and Topp XX secured identical 2-1 wins over Buxton United and Monedderlust respectively. Clifford Garraway and Delroy Fraser scored for the army unit while on target in the loss was Michael Phyll.а For Linden unit Topp XX, Terrence Aaron and Travis Watterton.
