Some of the notable highlights are the GCB’s 2016 male and female Cricketer-of-the-Year winners Leon Johnson and Shemaine Campbelle respectively while young and upcoming wicketkeeper-batsman Joshua Persaud who scored the most runs in the 2016 Regional Under-17 tournament and West Indies Under-19 all-rounder Keemo Paul are also featured in the glossy magazine. Meanwhile, Honorary Secretary of the GCB, Anand Sanasie, who spoke at the launch said: “The Guyana Cricket Board launched its first `The Guyana Cricketer’ magazine on the 28th of February to coincide with its 70th anniversary in 2014. The launch took place at the Georgetown Cricket Club pavilion. This year the GCB launches its fourth edition of the magazine as it celebrates its 75th anniversary,” Sanasie said.

Touching on the magazine’s contents Sanasie added, “The magazine captures the Honorary Secretary’s report, highlighting the achievements of our national teams, our development programmes, and the report also gives mention to the achievements of the GCB and the Secretary at the National Sports Commission’s award held in May 2016.”  He also mentioned that there is no cost attached to ‘The Guyanese Cricketer’ explaining that the publication will be distributed to the other territorial boards, a move which he assured was only being done by the Guyanese cricketing administrative body.
