The cycling season continues today with the staging of the third in a series of road races organized by the Guyana Cycling Federation’s (GCF).
Scheduled for a 08:30hrs start, the 75-mile fixture will roll off from Ocean View Hotel, proceed to Abary Bridge and return to the point of origin for the finish.
In an effort to create a transparent system for eligibility for selection to overseas assignments, the GCF has embarked on organizing events where points are awarded to the top wheelsmen.
Jamal John has dominated the first two races to rack up the maximum 30 points. He won the first GCF race which was staged from Homestretch Avenue to Loo Creek on the Linden/Soesdyke Highway and back, to earn.
The Team Coco’s standout then added a further 15 points after crossing the line in pole position in the second race which started outside the Ocean View Hotel, proceeded to Mahaica and returned to the hotel for the finish.
In the first race, there were only 20 starters, the second attracted 18. The Horace Burrowes-led GCF will be hoping for a much bigger turnout this morning.
