Overseas group makes donation to Sanata Point

Overseas Disturbance Sports Club has made a sterling contribution to the Sanata Point Cooperate Society in an effort to enhance the participation of sports in the East Bank community.

The donation of the football gears according to Orin Humphrey, who is a member of the sports club, is an initiative geared at assisting youths on either side of the gender spectrum who are interested in being involved in sports.

Overseas Disturbance Sports Club, member Orin Humphrey as he hands over a number of football gears to secretary of the Sanata Point Cooperate Society Eric Francois, Friday.

“We are a group, we try to help people, especially the youth. We are looking for teams who are interested in playing, male or female. But we have one motto; if you don’t go to school, we are not going to help you,” Humphrey, a former Berbice footballer said.

He, however, stated that there should be a system in place to encourage donors like himself since it is quite inconvenient when one has to purchase items while having to pay hefty sums to ship and clear same.

Meanwhile, Eric Francois, who collected the items on behalf of the group, thanked Humphrey and his team while contending that the gesture will go a long way in empowering the youths in the community through sports.
