Albouystown, Plaisance advance to quarter-finals

Xtreme Cleaners /GT Beer Gold Rush Futsal Championship

Dark horses Albouystown stormed their way into the quarterfinal of the Xtreme Cleaners/GT Beer Gold Rush Futsal Championship, downing North Ruimveldt 4-2, last evening at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue.

It was the third consecutive win for Albouystown, as they topped the group, led by a brace from Lennox Cort in the 12th and 19th minute.

Roy Cassou and Moses Gittens chipped in with goals in the 13th and 20th minute each. On the other side, Joshua Brown and Gerald Gittens netted in the seventh and 18th minute, respectively.

Meanwhile, Future Stars edged Plaisance 6-4 to seal their place in the elimination round. Kemo Anthony scored a brace for the winners in the second and third minute, while Jeremy Garrett,

Keron Solomon, Kevin Cummings and Jamal Cozier netted in the fifth, sixth, 11th and 18th minute apiece.

For the loser, Cahisle Higgins recorded a helmet trick in the third, fourth, 14th and 17th minute. Up to press time, four group matches were still to be contested.

Upon the conclusion of the group stage, the top two finishers in

each pool and the best two third place finishers will advance to the quarterfinal round on June 13th.

The semi-final round commences on June 15th, with the grand final slated for June 17th.
