Edwards receives IPA sponsorship

One of Guyana’s most decorated powerlifters, John ‘Big John’ Edwards was the beneficiary of a timely sponsorship pact from the International Pharmaceutical Agency (IPA) ahead of the NAPF/Caribbean and NAPF/FESUPO Powerlifting Championships scheduled for July 3-8 in Orlando, Florida.

Edwards who owns the Caribbean Master’s 2 120kg squat and bench press records, recently received the backing from the company in the form of supplements under the Universal brand and a cheque.

In a statement, the company said: “Besides being a major Pharmaceutical distributor, the company strong believes that sport has a significant economic, political and cultural influence on our society, as it has the unique power to attract, mobilize and inspire.”

“International Pharmaceutical Agency, along with fans of Mr. Edwards, is confident that he will make the country proud and wishes him success throughout the competition,” the company’s statement concluded.

Edwards who has the deadlift record on his radar, expressed appreciation for the show of support and noted that he is determined to be on the top podium step once again with the Golden Arrowhead.
