King of the Ring b/ball tournament commences tomorrow in Linden

The third annual Third Rock ‘King of the Ring Basketball tournament will commence tomorrow at the Mackenzie Sports Club (MSC) Hard-Court, Linden.

The event, which was officially launched yesterday at the Linden Enterprise Building, Mackenzie, and is sanctioned by the Linden Amateur Basketball Association (LABA), comprises seven teams.

Group-A features defending champions Victory Valley Royals, Block 22 Flames and Christianburg Pistons while group-B consists of Half Mile Bulls, Amelia’s Ward Jets and Bankers Trust Falcons.

Retrieve Raiders, the number-one seeded team, has been given an automatic semi-final berth. They will faceoff with the winner of group-A. All competing teams will be allowed to field ‘Guest Players’.

In the opening fixture, Bankers Trust Falcons will oppose Amelia’s Ward Jets from 18:00hrs. In the feature contest at 20:30hrs, defending champion Victory Valley Royals will oppose Christianburg Pistons.

The event will continue on Sunday with another doubleheader. At 18:30hrs, Block 22 Flames will battle Victory Valley Royals, while Amelia’s Ward Jets will engage Half Mile Bulls at 20:30hrs.
