Smith gets support from Fitness Express, Demerara Mutual for Int’l Powerlifting C/ships

National 93kg deadlift record-holder, Erwyn ‘Superman’ Smith recently received a timely shot in the arm from two corporate sponsors ahead of the July 3-8 annual NAPF/FESUPO North American, Caribbean and Pan-American Powerlifting Championships.

Smith, who won a silver medal at the last championships, received  assistance from Fitness Express and Demerara Mutual to help to offset his expenses at the championships which will be hosted in Orlando, Florida, United States of America.

The presentations to Smith were made by CEO of Fitness Express, Jamie McDonald and Demerara Mutual’s Marketing Manager, Clarence Perry.

Smith, who is looking to make a step up on the podium this year, lost his father a few weeks ago and will be dedicating his potential gold medal performance to the elder Smith.

Smith departs on Sunday via Caribbean Airlines at 5:30am.

At the championships, Guyana will be represented by 12 athletes.
