Guyana aiming to rebound after first round defeat

Guyana’s national Under – 17 team which lost their first round match to the Windward Island by 19 runs are eager to rebound against to the Leeward Island today.

The Guyanese in the first match which was played on Tuesday went down to the Windward Island in a low scoring affair. Set a 124 for victory, Guyana folded for 105 in 45.2 overs as Kevlon Anderson 27, Skipper Ashmead Nedd (17), Alphius Bookie (13) and Alex Algoo (11) all failing to carry-on after getting starts.

Anderson, however, was Guyana’s shining light capturing 5-35 from 7.4 overs of off spin bowling while receiving support from Junior Sinclair who had 3-16 from seven overs.

The other second round fixtures will see Trinidad coming up against Jamaica while Barbados will do battle with Windward Island.
