Williams reaches 400m semi-finals at World Youth Games

National 400m champion, Daniel Williams qualified for today’s 400m semi-final at the World Youth Games currently underway in Nairobi, Kenya.

Williams ran a personal best of 47.41s in heat two where he came second to Melkamu Assefa of Ethiopia who crossed the line in 47.23s.

Williams was the sixth fastest qualifier of all the semi-finalists. Today’s semi finals for the quarter mile event gets underway at 11:45am local time (18:45pm Nairobi’s time).

The athlete from Linden who is seeded third according to the start list, will run in heat two today at 11:52am. Seeded first and second is Anthony Cox of Jamaica who qualified with a blistering 46.53s run and Kenya’s David Sanayek (47.29s).

Williams will be hoping to clinch a finals berth.

Meanwhile, Guyana’s other representative at the meet, long jumper, Chantoba Bright, will spring into action on Sunday.
