Guyana’s Onassah Rogers narrowly missed out on a podium finish after finishing fourth in the girl’s under-18 100m dash, in a time of 11.78s, last evening at the Sixth Commonwealth Youth Games at the Thomas A Robinson Stadium, Nassau, Bahamas.

The winner was 16-year old St. Lucian Julien Alfred [third from left] who clocked 11.56s (Royston Alkins Photo)Rogers was running her third race of the evening night after winning her heat and semi-final sprints comprehensively. However, she was overpowered by 16-year old St. Lucian, Julien Alfred who clocked 11.56s to dominate the field, with Australian Riely Louise Day and Canadian Deondra Deneka Green completing the podium line-up in second and third, respectively.
Guyana’s Kenisha Phillips who seemed to be nursing an injury placed sixth in the finals.
The boy’s under-18 final was won by Adell Colthrust of Trinidad and Tobago, in a time of 10.55s. Colthrust stormed his way across the finish line ahead of hot favorite Kevon Stone of Jamaica who stopped the clock at 10.59s, while Adrian Curry of the Bahamas copped the bronze medal with a time of 10.60s.
