Annual Mayor’s Cup kicks off tonight at Mackenzie Sports Club

The annual Mayor’s Cup Football Championship will commence this evening at the Mackenzie Sports Club (MSC) ground in Linden with a doubleheader from 19:00hrs.

In the opening fixture, Milerock will lock horns with Kuru-Kururu, while the feature contest will pit Silver Shattas against Soesdyke Falcons from 21:00hrs.

The event will resume tomorrow at the Victoria Community Ground, East Coast Demerara with a tripleheader. At 16:00hrs, Plaisance will oppose Berbice unit Cougars.

In the second showdown, Golden Grove will engage Golden Warriors from 18:00hrs, while the feature contest will bring together Buxton Stars and Pouderoyen at 20:00hrs.

Action will continue on Sunday at the same venue. Mahaicony Thunderhawks will lock talons with Grove Hi-Tech from 16:00hrs, while Mahaica Determinators will battle Riddim Squad from 18:00hrs.

In the feature affair, Ann’s Grove will match skills with Pele FC at 20:00hrs.

Winner of the tournament will receive $500,000 and the Minister of Citizenship Trophy. The runners-up will pocket $250,000 and the Busta Trophy, while the third place finisher will collect $150,000 and the John Fernandes accolade.

The fourth place finisher will walk away with $100,000 and the Cummings Electrical Trophy.
