Brave Sky triumphs in feature event at Emancipation Meet

Brave Sky proved once again yesterday why it is one of Guyana’s premier thoroughbreds.

The dark bay colt cruised to a gate-to-pole victory in the feature E and Lower, 1400m event at the Port Mourant Turf Club where the Top Brandz Emancipation Meet was staged.

The pre-race hype trampled the competition the steed from the Karibee Stables got throughout the race on the muddy turf.

This one was over early. Despite fetching the 122 pounder, Colin Ross, Brave Sky already had a five-length lead on Honey Flow, Media Day and Climate Change at the half mile pole.

The day’s champion jockey then allowed the powerful race horse to cruise on the far turn before he drew off on the homestretch to seal a comprehensive win by about 10 lengths which was worth $350,000.

Media Day passed a fading Honey Flow to trot off with half that amount while Climate Change had to settle for fourth on the day which had a huge downpour and prevailing overcast conditions.

Before the feature race, there were four other events. Here is a summary:
