Suriname downs Guyana 3-1 in U15 football

Guyana’s winless record in the CONCACAF Boys U15 Championship continued, as they went down to Suriname by a 3-1 score-line yesterday at the IMG Academy Facility, Florida, United States of America.

Following a 1-1 draw with St. Kitts and Nevis in their group-F opener, the Guyanese took the lead in the 18th minute, as Orville Daniels netted.

However the Surinamese secured the come-from-behind win, compliments of three unanswered goals. Guyana’s lead was short-lived as Fernando Heopel equalised two minutes onward.

Faisijo Burnette handed Suriname the lead, etching his name on the scorer’s sheet in the 36th minute. The scoreline was then completed in the 60th minute, as Burnett completed his brace.

Guyana’s starting XI for the contest was Shawn Adonis (Gk), Jermaine Padmore, Wayne DaSilva, Okifi Patoir, Tyrel Khan, Daniels, Jermaine Garrett, Ronaldo Rodrigues, Omari Glasgow, Troni Semple and Marcus Wilson.

Guyana will conclude their group campaign tomorrow at the same venue against St. Lucia in what is a must win encounter, as they hope to qualify to the next round.
