Guyana’s Men and Women play in today’s finals

Guyana’s Men’s and Women’s teams will have the opportunity to be crowned as Caribbean Champions when the NLA XXV Senior Caribbean Squash Championships conclude today in Kingstown, St. Vincent.

Tropical Storm Harvey passed the island of St. Vincent by noon yesterday, and Friday’s matches which had been postponed on Thursday night for today, in anticipation of the storm, were back on schedule, albeit with a later starting time.

The Guyana ladies team blew past their counterparts from the Cayman Islands by a 5-0 margin, to set up a virtual ‘final’ with Barbados who beat Trinidad & Tobago 4-1.  Both teams have won all four of their matches, with Guyana holding a slight edge in the tie-breaker heading into today’s final round robin encounter. Both teams are 19-1 in matches, with Guyana having a game record of 57-5, compared to Barbados’ 57-6.
