Guyanese cyclists seeking to qualify for 2018 CAC games

With a delegation of three athletes, Guyana has a presence at the Pan American Track Cycling Championships in Couva, Trinidad and Tobago, which is also qualifying for the next Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games in Barranquilla, Colombia in 2018.

The local wheelsmen are Scott Savory, Romello Crawford and Darryl Rogers.

According to Manager of the team, Joseph Britton, Savory and Crawford will compete in the points race, while Rogers will participate in the match sprints.

The five-day event which started yesterday at the Couva National Cycling Center, features nearly 200 competitors from 20 nations, including Olympic medalists Chloe Dygert from the United States, Colombian Fabian Puerta and Mexican Jessica Salazar, will be part of this strong continental competition.

Action in those events began yesterday with the classifications of the pursuit by teams, as well as the sprint in both genders.

For the rest of the competition which will be held in double days (morning and afternoon) equally in other Olympic modalities such as keirin, Omnium, race for points, sprint, time trial and Madison for the other 16 finals.
