Walkovers highlight latest round of NAMILCO U17 football tournament

On a day that featured six walkover victories Den Amstel and Pouderoyen secured wins when the National Milling Company (NAMILCO) U17 Football League continued yesterday at the Den Amstel Community ground.

In the West Demerara Zone, league leader Den Amstel downed Wales FC 5-3. Malcolm Miggins tallied a hat-trick in the eighth, 43rd and 67th minute while Keswyn Fraser recorded a double in the 16th and 35th minute.

For Wales FC, Devon Callendar netted twice in the 42nd and 65th minute while Shaqueel Richards scored in the 50th minute.

In another fixture, Pouderoyen crushed Jetty Gunners 6-0.

Keanu Lawrence tallied five goals in the rout, scoring in the 15th, 24th, 28th, 30th and 58th minute. Also on target in the lopsided encounter was Mark Barker in the 47th minute.

Meanwhile, Crane Rovers and Eagles FC defeated Uitvlugt and Golden Warriors via walkovers. Over at the Grove Community Centre in the East Bank of Demerara leg, four walkovers occurred.

Grove Hi-Tech, Friendship, Agricola Red Triangle and Diamond United gained walkovers from Herstelling, Mocha, Highway United and Soesdyke respectively.
