Thomas United, Santos and Wales secured wins when the Alex Bunbury Sports and Academic Academy (ABSAA) coordinated ‘Clash of Veterans’ football tournament resumed Thursday.
Played at the Tucville Community Ground, Thomas United squeaked past Plaisance 2-1 while Santos dismantled Park Rangers 5-1 and Wales brushed aside Pele 2-0.
Rasta Patriots gained a walkover from Beacons.
The competition will continue today at the same venue.
At 18:00hrs, Beacons will oppose Park Rangers, Wales will tackle Rasta Patriots at 19:00hrs and Pele will oppose Plaisance at 20:00hrs. The final fixture pits Santos against Newtown Kitty at 21:00hrs.
The tournament is being played in a league format featuring teams from Georgetown, East Coast Demerara and West Bank Demerara.
Trophies as well as cash prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in the event. Sponsors of the event are Banks DIH Limited, Guyana Football Federation (GFF), Star Party Rental, Leading Edge and Fruta Conquerors FC.
