Deonarain, Jason Holder star as DCC easily defeats Rose Hall

Romeo Deonarain enhanced his budding reputation and, along with Jason Holder, helped the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) inflict a nine-wicket thrashing on Rose Hall in a match of the Well Teen, Trophy Stall, Tropical Springs and Nauth Auto Spares 13-years-and-under hardball cricket competition last weekend.

The 11-year-old Deonarain destroyed Rose Hall with figures of 5-9 as Rose Hall, batting first after being sent in by DCC, crumbled to 34 all out in a mere 9.3 overs.

Deonarain received support from Holder who ended with 2-5 and Daniel Mootoo who picked up 2-10. No batsman reached double figures but S. Rampersaud top scored with six while Jeremy Sandia chipped in with five and Shamar Scott contributed three runs.

DCC, in reply, reached 35 for 1 in 8.2 overs with extras contributing 11.

Matthew Protoya took 1-10 bowling for Rose Hall.

Deonarain was named Man-of-the-Match.

In the match between the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) and Gandhi Youth Organisation (GYO), GCC defeated GYO by 107 runs.

GCC won the toss and batted making 168-8 off their allotted 25 overs with Rahul Singh top scoring with 45. He received support from Rivaldo Phillips, 27 and Mitra Dhanraj 12. There were 45 extras.

Bowling for GYO, Dilshan Ramnarine took 3-33 and Anthony Hutson 2-23.

GYO, in reply, were dismissed for 61 in 17 overs with Sami Mussain, 12, the top scorer while Naresh Mahado made five.

There were 33 extras.

Bowling for GCC, Yohance Angoy bagged 3-9, Sanjay Persaud, 2-8 and Aryan Persaud 2-15.

Rahul Singh was adjudged Man-of-the-Match.

In the final match of the round Rose Hall defeated Everest by 83 runs.

Rose Hall won the toss and batted reaching 147 for 9 in 15 overs.

Surendra Kamcharan 24, Jermey Saudia 20 and Shaeam Khan 12 were the principal scorers while extras contributed 52.

Bowling for Everest Raynoldo Mohammed took 3-23 and Antonio Daconceicao 2-35.

Everest, in their reply, crashed to 64 all out in 14 overs with

Raynoldo Mohammed’s 15 the top score.

Michael Rampersaud made nine and Jagdeesh Dowlatram eight.

There were 20 extras.

Bowling for Rose Hall, Christopher Deroop, 2-8, Mathew Protoya, 2-9,

Jeremy Sandia, 2-10 and Wayne Williams, 2-11, were the wicket takers.

The Man-of-the-Match was Raynoldo Mohammed

Action in the competition continued last evening at DCC with the home team v taking on Rose Hall while today’s fixtures will see

Blairmont vs GYO at DCC from 1pm and at 6pm Blairmont vs TSC at DCC.

With one round remaining GCC leads the points standings with 81  followed by DCC, 70, TSC, 57, GYO, 51, Rose Hall, 36, Blairmont, 27 and ECC 21.
