The Guyana Defence Force (GDF) rugby outfit marched all over the Pepsi Hornets yesterday with a 41-10 trouncing when the Bounty Farm 15’s league continued Sunday at the National Park.

The Hornets were no match for the militia men who play with a rugged Barbarian style coupled with excellent forward play.

Their rucking and mauling were fantastic and they won every time to keep the lion’s share of the possessions.

Patrick King’s men controlled the offensive flow of the game and scored eight tries as Dwayne Schroeder, Cloyd Prowell, King and Rodwell Hudson went over. Schroeder, Prowell and King had two tries apiece while Hudson breached the Hornets defense once late in the game to punctuate the emphatic win.

Player of the game, Schroder (two) and Prowell (one) also chipped in with conversions to pad the score line.

In reply the Hornets’ sole try-scorer was Rickford Cummings as they could not back up last weekend’s impressive 36-25 victory against the Panthers. National Captain, Ryan Gonsalves buried Cummings conversion and nailed a penalty to make the score line a bit more respectable.

The league continues on Saturday with the Hornets facing the Falcons.
