East Bank, Essequibo, Lower Corentyne record wins

East Bank, Essequibo and Lower Corentyne were among the winners of the fifth round of the Guyana Cricket Board/Jaguars Franchise League tournament yesterday.

East Bank defeated West Berbice by four wickets in their encounter. East Bank, resuming the day on 62 – 2, reached 145 for six with Dahshan Persaud (28) and skipper Ronaldo Ali Mohamed posting 15 not out to see their side home.

The bowling for West Berbice was led by Gudakesh Motie who had figures of 3 for 42 in a losing cause.

Over at Port Mourant, Essequibo continued their unbeaten run by defeating Upper Corentyne by 169 runs. Essequibo in their second innings, piled up 454 before being dismissed on the back of Keemo Paul’s 177 as they earned a sizable lead of 297 while Eon Hooper bagged 7 – 166.

Upper Corentyne in pursuit of their target, were bundled out 128 with skipper Anthony Adams following up his first innings seven-wicket haul by  picking up 6 for 29 to bowl his side to victory.

Meanwhile, Lower Corentyne only needed two days to dispose of East Coast by an innings and 141 runs at Lusignan.

Lower Corentyne piled on 405 – 7 declared in their first innings with Jonathan Foo (152) and Kevlon Anderson (120) recording centuries.

Kumar Bishundyal picked up 4 for 51 bowling for East Coast who were then skittled out for 97 in their first innings and 167 in their second innings after being asked to follow on.
