Ramdhani through to quarter-finals at South American Youth Games

Priyanna Ramdhani yesterday kept the Golden Arrowhead flying when she reached the quarter-finals of the girl’s singles in the badminton competition at the South American Youth games in Santiago, Chile.

Ramdhani, the youngest athlete on the Guyana Team defeated Chile’s Mikela Skaric Hott 21-17, 21-14 to reach the quarter-finals.

Ramdhani who lost her first match to Micaela Flores of Peru 0-2 then rebounded to register Guyana’s first victory at the games when she defeated Suriname’s Erisa Bleau in the afternoon session.

Guyana’s Tyrese Jeffrey lost in his first match to Argentina’s Mateo Delmastro in the boys singles and was down to  play Chile’s Alonso Medel  to qualify for the round of 16

Meanwhile the table tennis players Miguel Wong and Nickolus Romain will begin their quest for honours at 10 am this morning in the Chile Olympic Centre of Excellence Hall in the boy’s team events where they are placed in group 1 with top seeds Argentina and Uruguay.

Two teams will advance from each group to the quarterfinals round. They will first play Argentina at 10am and Uruguay at 2 pm.
