City teams invade Linden tonight for Hamilton Green Cup

All roads will lead to the Mackenzie Sports Club (MSC) ground, Linden tonight, when the annual Hamilton Green Football Championship continues with an exciting triple-header.

The opening fixture at 17:00hrs will pit Georgetown Football Club (GFC) against Linden’s Silver Shattas while in the second fixture at 19:00hrs, Linden giant Milerock will match skills with Georgetown’s Western Tigers.

The final contest of the night will witness Eagles FC battling fellow Linden side Winners Connection from 21:00hrs. The tournament will then resume on Sunday at the Victoria Community ground with the quarterfinal round.

The Guyana Police Force will take aim at Ann’s Grove at 21:00hrs. Prior to the lone quarterfinal match, Victoria Kings will battle Plaisance at 17:00hrs while the Guyana Defence Force will battle Buxton Stars at 19:00hrs in exhibition matches.

Winner of the tournament will receive $500,000 and the Minister of Citizenship Trophy while the runners-up will pocket $250,000 and the Busta Trophy.

The third place finisher will collect $150,000 and the John Fernandes Trophy while the fourth place finisher will walk away with $100,000 and the Cummings Electrical Trophy.
