Men crush Panama 9 – 0,

Ladies defeat Bermuda 3 – 0

Guyana’s Men’s and Women’s teams moved one step closer in qualifying for the 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games, when they secured wins against Panama and Bermuda, respectively, yesterday.

Staged at the Mona Facility, Kingston, Jamaica, the undefeated Men’s team won their third consecutive game, crushing Panama 9-0. Aroydy Branford tallied a helmet trick in the ninth, 18th, 38th and 48th minute. Jamarj Assanah assisted with a double in the 29th and 49th minute, while Robert France scored twice in the 30th and 56th minute. Chipping in with a 59th minute strike was Jael Gaskin.

Meanwhile, the Ladies downed Bermuda 3-0. Gabriella Xavier, Marzana Fiedtkou and Kerensa Fernandes scored in the 38th, 41st and 46th minute, respectively. The Guyanese ladies will conclude their group campaign tomorrow at the same venue against Guatemala from 8:30am. Similarly, the Men’s team will oppose Jamaica in their final group fixture at 2:00pm.

The playoffs for the final standings will take place on Sunday.
